The Cheese Stands Alone

Ah, the Amazon platform. Once the shining star of indie authors, it’s now feeling a bit like your ex-partner you’re trying to get over. You know it’s time to move on, but it’s just so damn hard to let go of the comfort and convenience. But fear not my fellow writers, there’s a world outside of Amazon, and it’s just waiting for us to take the plunge and sell directly from our own websites.

As an indie authors, we do it all. Book covers, editing, marketing- we wear so many hats we’re practically a one-person circus. So, the thought of leaving the safety net of Amazon and going it alone can feel a bit daunting. But trust me. It’s worth it.

First of all, direct sales mean more profit. Say it with me, MO-NEY. And as an indie author, every penny counts. Plus, direct sales allow us to build stronger relationships with our readers, and isn’t that the ultimate goal?

Now, I won’t lie- it’s a lot of work. But hey, we’re indie authors- we’re used to the hustle. Building a website, setting up payment options, and promoting our books takes time and effort. But, with a little bit of determination and a lot of coffee, anything is possible.

So, say goodbye to the Amazon jungle and hello to the open road of direct sales. Your bank account and your readers will thank you. And who knows, maybe one day you’ll be so successful you can afford to hire someone to wear some of those hats for you. Until then, happy selling!

And remember, support your favorite authors by buying directly from them. Check out my bookstore at www.creativekrs.com/bookstore for some indie author love.
